2024 China Open WTA 1000: All results and predictions updated

No matter how you look at it, the China Open WTA 1000 tournament is one of the biggest events of the fall season. Every dedicated WTA fan remains excited for this 2024 edition, as the absence of several top 10 players creates unique opportunities for the rest of the field. Each participant had a shot at the coveted 1000 ranking points, but Coco Gauff prevailed. We predicted the American to win it based on.. not much we said. “Just that feeling that this isn’t Muchova’s favourite match-up.”, which proved to be the case. The American was hungry as hell and bagged all 1000 points taking it to the Wuhan Open.
Below are all the schedules, our predictions, results, including those from the qualification rounds, and all matches from every main draw round played.

Saturday’s lineup at the 2024 China Open WTA promises drama and excitement. Daria Kasatkina, known for her crafty, tactical play, faces the unpredictable Jana Fett, a player who can disrupt rhythm with her aggressive, high-risk game. Kasatkina’s ability to construct points with precision will be put to the test if Fett finds her mark early. Expect Kasatkina to weave her defensive magic, but Fett’s explosive shot-making could swing the momentum in an instant, creating a fascinating battle of control versus chaos.

In another intriguing clash, Barbora Krejcikova squares off against Jaqueline Cristian. Krejcikova, a master of all-court play with Grand Slam pedigree, will look to assert herself, but Cristian’s fearless, attacking style can make any opponent uncomfortable. This could turn into a gripping duel, especially if Cristian finds ways to force Krejcikova into longer rallies, challenging her endurance and mental fortitude.

Meanwhile, Aryna Sabalenka’s raw power and aggressive mindset will meet the grit and determination of Thai qualifier Sawangkaew Mananchaya. Sabalenka, with her relentless pace and booming groundstrokes, will aim to bulldoze her way through, but Sawangkaew’s resilience might just make this contest more interesting than expected. Finally, Amanda Anisimova versus Camila Osorio promises a blend of talent and tension. Anisimova’s elegant shot-making will face off against Osorio’s tireless defense, setting the stage for a potential marathon match where grit could triumph over finesse.

And let’s not forget. We have Mirra Andreeva on court. In her matchup against Irina-Camelia Begu, she will need to bring more than just her usual tenacity. The young Russian faces a tough challenge in Begu, a player known for her ability to turn the tide with sheer consistency and patience. Both players are familiar with grinding out long rallies, but Andreeva’s success will depend on her ability to dictate the tempo and find those crucial winners. If she can impose her aggressive baseline game without succumbing to Begu’s knack for neutralizing power, Andreeva could create opportunities to seize control of the match. This battle will test not just their physical endurance, but also their mental toughness, as Andreeva looks to make a deeper mark at the China Open.

Our safest prediction for Mirra Andreeva vs Irina-Camelia Begu. Andreeva to WIN.
Our prediction Mirra Andreeva to win was SPOT ON.
Prediction Status Overall: 2 out of 3 correct.

Note: every girl that lost this round earned $34,500, and 35 points

(Text written before results were known)
Naomi Osaka’s clash with Yulia Putintseva is the one here to generate attention. All eyes will be on Osaka to see how she handles her comeback further, as Putintseva’s defensive skills and ability to frustrate her opponents could make this match particularly challenging. Another exciting matchup is Sofia Kenin vs. Diana Shnaider. Kenin has shown flashes of her old form after battling through injuries and inconsistency, while Shnaider’s powerful game promises to push Kenin’s defensive skills to the limit.

Elsewhere, Paula Badosa’s match against Viktoriya Tomova stands out. Badosa has had a rocky season and will look to rediscover her form, while Tomova, known for her strategic play, could take advantage of any inconsistency. In another match to watch, Coco Gauff faces Clara Burel. Gauff has struggled recently, including an early exit at the US Open, and has made coaching changes to regain her momentum. Burel, with her aggressive baseline play, will be aiming to capitalize on Gauff’s current uncertainty. Both players are looking for a breakthrough, which should result in a highly competitive match.
