Clay season officially gets underway this week as the Credit One Charleston Open returns for its 53rd edition, running from March 31 to April 6. Nestled in South Carolina’s tennis-loving Lowcountry, Charleston hosts the first WTA 500 event on clay this year—and the oldest all-women’s pro tournament in the United States.
Known for its distinctive green clay, the tournament offers a unique early-season challenge with a 48-player singles draw and 16-team doubles field. This year also brings a modern twist: for the first time on clay, every match will use Electronic Line Calling Live, adding a new layer of precision to the fast-paced rallies.
With over one million dollars on the line and Jessica Pegula and Madison Keys leading the field, Charleston sets the stage for a thrilling launch to the clay campaign.
