The 2025 Guangzhou Open returns this third week of October to the buzzing Nansha International Tennis Center, bringing the WTA Tour’s late-season hardcourt swing to southern China. Now in its 19th edition, the event has grown into a fixture of October tennis.
Top seed Jéssica Bouzas Maneiro headlines a diverse field that blends youthful ambition with tour-tested craft, joined by Americans Ann Li and Alycia Parks, Germany’s Tatjana Maria, and the Philippines’ Alexandra Eala, fresh off her latest surge up the rankings.
Home fans have plenty to cheer for, too. Wildcards Wang Xiyu, Wang Yafan, Guo Hanyu, and veteran Zhang Shuai bolster a strong Chinese contingent, while the qualifiers — including Kaja Juvan, Claire Liu, and Lulu Sun — add intrigue and unpredictability to the main draw.
As the hardcourt season winds down, Guangzhou might once again produce a surprising champion — just as Olga Danilović did last year — before the curtain falls on 2025. And remember: there are no byes in this one.
