The WTA 1000 Wuhan Open in China runs from October 4 to October 12 at the Optics Valley International Tennis Centre. The event is the second big Chinese hard-court event and features 96 singles players and strong doubles competition. Just like the China Open in Beijing this Dongfeng Voyah Wuhan Open is one of Asia’s biggest women’s tournaments.
No Qinwen Zheng, Aryna Sabalenka Defending Champion
The Optics Valley International Tennis Center will host 106 matches, divided into two stages: the qualifiers from October 4 to 5 (scroll down to see qualifying results), and the main draw from October 6 to 12.
The field is led by defending champion and world No.1 Aryna Sabalenka.
All players will compete for 1,000 ranking points and a total prize of $3.65 million.
The 22-year-old Qinwen Zheng had prepared to make a highly anticipated return to her home city Wuhan, as she attempted to feature in both WTA 1000 events in China. It was not to be. Elbow problems once again forced China’s No.1 female player to fall back to the sidelines.
