The sold-out Linz Design Centre, packed with 2,500 fans, witnessed an intense quarterfinal battle between top seed Karolína Muchová and Anastasia Potapova at the Upper Austria Ladies Open. Muchová secured a hard-fought 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 victory to advance to the semifinals.
Muchová started strong, using her versatile attacking game to control the rallies. However, at the end of the first set, she had a brief injury scare, clutching her thigh after a long rally. Despite this, she managed to close out the set.
In the second set, Potapova fought for her life, raising her level and delivering some brilliant tennis. She finally broke through, converting one of her 12 break point chances and forcing a deciding set.
Potapova’s intensity peaked in the final set, with her shouts growing louder as she pushed for a comeback. However, her level dropped just enough for Muchová to capitalize, especially from the baseline. The Czech star remained composed under pressure, sealing the victory and booking a semifinal clash with Ekaterina Alexandrova.
